Tripbuds is in development and launching late 2026. Until then, here's what we get asked most. If something isn't here, email support@tripbuds.com and we'll come back to you — we read every message.
Pricing
What does Tripbuds cost?
Is Tripbuds free?
Yes — the core experience is free. Building day-by-day itineraries, planning with your buds, in-trip chat, polls, photos, splitting pay, saving public trips: all free, forever. The free plan has fair-use limits (see below); an optional paid plan, Tripbuds Pro, removes them.
What are the free plan's limits?
The free plan currently includes up to 3 active trips, up to 4 buds per trip, and 1 AI itinerary generation per month — plus a one-time bundle of bonus AI generations when you join, so you can plan your first trip properly. The current limits are always shown in the app.
What is Tripbuds Pro?
Pro is our optional subscription for power planners. It removes the free-plan limits (unlimited trips, unlimited buds per trip, unlimited AI planning) and adds live flight status, flight-delay alerts, and PDF export of your trips. The basics are never paywalled.
How much does Pro cost?
Pro will be available monthly or annually — expected at around US$4.99/month or US$44.99/year, with local pricing set by the App Store and Google Play. Final prices are shown in the app before you buy. Annual works out meaningfully cheaper.
How is Pro billed? Can I cancel?
Through your Apple or Google account — we never see your card details. It renews automatically unless you cancel (anytime, in your store's subscription settings); you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple/Google under their policies. If Pro lapses, you drop back to the free plan — nothing you created is deleted.
Do you take a cut of bookings?
When you book a stay through Tripbuds, we earn a small affiliate commission from our booking partner — up to 4% from Booking.com. The price you pay is the same as booking direct — nothing is added on top. It's how we keep the core app free without selling your data.
Platforms
Where can I use Tripbuds?
When does Tripbuds launch?
Tripbuds is in active development and launching in late 2026. We're shipping on iOS and Android together — no "iOS first, Android later" gap. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the day it goes live.
Which platforms will Tripbuds be on at launch?
iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play) on day one. Same app, same features, same launch day.
Is there a web version?
Every public trip will have a clean, shareable web page at tripbuds.com — light mode, dark mode, mobile-friendly, no app install required for whoever you send it to. The full editing experience lives in the app.
Will Tripbuds work offline?
You'll be able to view your saved trips offline. Searching new trips and saving them needs a connection.
Privacy
What does Tripbuds know about me?
What data does Tripbuds collect?
What we need to run a planning app: your account email, date of birth (to check you're 16+), the trips you create and save, photos and chats you add, and your expenses for split pay. We also use two tools to keep the app good: Sentry for crash reports and PostHog for first-party product analytics (which screens and features get used, linked to your account, never sold or used for ads). If you subscribe to Pro, RevenueCat manages your subscription status — Apple or Google handle the payment, so we never see your card. The full breakdown is in our privacy policy.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
No and no. We don't sell user data, we don't run ad networks inside the app, we don't use Apple's or Google's advertising identifiers, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. We make money from Pro subscriptions and booking commissions — that's the whole model.
Who powers the AI planning?
Trip generation runs on Anthropic's Claude models. Your private trip content is not used to train their models.
Are my trips public by default?
No. Trips you create are private until you choose to make one public. Saving a public trip to your My trips keeps your saved copy private too. Your public profile only shows what you've explicitly published.
How old do I need to be?
16 or over. We ask for your date of birth at signup to check — it's never shown to other users.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. We remove your account and personal data per our privacy policy (you can export your data first from Settings). You can also email privacy@tripbuds.com if you'd rather we handle it.

Signing in and managing your account.
How do I sign in?
You'll be able to sign in with Apple, Google, or email. Same account works across iOS and Android.
Can I share a trip with someone who doesn't have the app?
Yes. Every public trip has a shareable link that opens as a clean web page on tripbuds.com — no install needed for whoever you send it to. Pro users can also export any trip as a PDF.
Can multiple people edit the same trip?
Yes. Invite your buds to a trip and you're all on the same itinerary — same stops, same edits, same in-trip chat. Everyone sees changes as they happen. Free trips fit 4 buds; Pro removes the cap.
What's a public profile?
Every traveller gets a profile showing their public trips, the countries they've been to, and the tips they've left. You decide what's public; private trips never appear. You can follow other buds whose travel taste matches yours.
Bookings
Booking stays and the price you see.
Who handles bookings?
Stays on Tripbuds are matched against Booking.com inventory (flights via partners like Kiwi.com). When you tap "Book", you complete the booking with the partner — your reservation, cancellation policy and payment are handled there. Our affiliate links run through the CJ Affiliate network; partners never receive your name or email from us.
Is the price on Tripbuds the same as booking direct?
Yes. We show the live price from our partner. We don't add a markup — our commission comes from the partner, not from you.
What if a stay is sold out or has closed?
Sold-out dates are flagged in the app. If a place has closed or changed hands, tips on the stop usually reflect it, and you can let us know at support@tripbuds.com so we can update the listing.
In the app
Chat, split pay, flights, and the AI bit.
How does in-trip chat work?
Every trip has its own chat thread that only the buds on that trip can see. You can also chat per-stop — useful for the back-and-forth on which restaurant to book or which day to do the hike.
How does split pay work?
Set a trip budget, log expenses as you go (any currency), and tag who paid and who it was for. Settle Up shows who owes who at the end and lets you mark balances settled once you've squared up. Tripbuds never moves or holds money — actual payment happens between you, however you like.
Does Tripbuds use AI to generate trips?
Yes. Tell Tripbuds your dates, vibe, and must-haves and it generates a day-by-day itinerary for you. From there you (and your buds) edit anything — swap a day, replace a stop, lock a stay. You can also reshape a single day ("more food, less walking") without touching the rest of the trip. Free accounts get bonus generations at signup plus a monthly allowance; Pro is unlimited.
Can Tripbuds keep my booking confirmations in one place?
Yes — that's the Trip Wallet. You can forward a booking confirmation to your private Tripbuds wallet address, or (a Pro feature) connect a Gmail or Outlook inbox with read-only access so Tripbuds finds confirmations from travel providers and files them for you. It's entirely opt-in, we only look at travel emails — never the rest of your inbox — and you can disconnect at any time. Full detail is in our privacy policy.
Can I track my flights?
Pro users get live flight status — gates, delays, arrival times — for any flight saved to the trip, plus push alerts when something changes.
Can I run polls with my buds?
Yes. Polls inside a trip are useful for the "where do we eat tonight?" decisions — everyone votes, the answer is on the itinerary, no separate group-chat thread to scroll back through.
